Central Auditory Processing Disorder (CAPD) occurs when the brain has trouble interpreting verbal and auditory information. People with CAPD, adults and children, typically have difficulty understanding what is said to them. Some people develop CAPD later in life, while others are born with it.

Statistics for CAPD:
An issue with how the brain interprets and differentiates sounds.
Five out of every 100 children are affected.
Hearing in children with CAPD is normal.
Several things can contribute to CAPD.
It is linked to delays in the development of the auditory parts of the brain in many children.
Some of the issues include brain damage, stroke, lead poisoning, viral infections, degenerative diseases, premature birth, and severe childhood ear infections.
CAPD is caused or arises from Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). - Speech and language disorders.
Learning disabilities, including dyslexia.
Emotional and social concerns.
Autism.
