Computer-based software or applications are considered assistive technology (AT) for LD. ATs can be either low-tech or high-tech devices that serve as teaching tools. They relieve the pressure off kids who struggle with writing.

Laptops and computerised gadgets like tablets that include built-in instructions and software features are examples of ATs. Studies demonstrate the numerous advantages of computer-based training for LD kids. They benefit from less distraction and easier listening, reading, writing, maths, organisation, and remembering.

There is an AT tool for each SLD. The following are some examples:

-Audio recorder or assistive listening device for listening

-Reading: Text-to-speech software or speech synthesis

-Word processing, spell checking, or speech recognition software for writing

-Electronic workbook or talking calculator for math

-Audio recorder and personal data manager

-Arrangement: The same as memory aids

A comprehensive review is essential to choosing the right instrument for a child. The equipment must be suitable for the child's needs. To maximise the usefulness of the AT, it is also essential that teachers receive training on how to use it properly. Learn more about learning difficulties & auditory processing disorder now!
